Film description
Para-documentary with autobiographic motifs. A story about the golden age of Vienna - a multinational, high-culture city where even maids wept when an opera star died. Zanussi-narrator stages dialogues with personalities of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries (Alma Mahler or Siegmund Freud), reflecting on the reasons for the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the rise of fascism.
