Erling Ericsson has developed his own methodology of stop motion workshops. The participants are gathered around the so-called camera box and they work on five stages of animation: idea, story board, visual design, animation and sound. The method is extraordinarily simple and intuitive allowing children to focus on visual art and not on the complicated technique.
Erling Ericsson has been organising workshops for children all over the world for more than 20 years. Last year he attended the Poznań Animator festival as well.
During the workshop, children prepare a story about characters they have invented themselves, told in the paper cut-out technique with photographs and other materials. Children from 7 to 12 years of age are warmly welcome.
The free workshop will be held on the 25th, 26th and 27th of July in the Puppet Theatre in Wrocław.

The workshop is a part of the UPC Film Academy of the ERA NEW HORIZONS International Film Festival. Films will be screened on the 25th, 26th and 27th of July and on the 1st and 2nd of August at 10.00 a.m. This year, the academy will present classic films and contemporary premieres of children's and youth films from Sweden. All films will be screened with a reader. During the opening of the children's films section (Saturday, 25th July) we will host Alicja Jaworski, author of the film Booo presented at the festival and co-author of the Laban the Little Ghost series. Alicja Jaworski will also take part in the animation workshop. The guest at the Monday screening in the Wrocław Puppet Theatre will be Johan Hagelbäck, the charismatic director of numerous funny films for children (including projects screened at the festival this year: Panic Painter, Big Time Smugglers, Poison Arrow Frog, Alfred).
