Born in 1955 in Paris, France. Director and film critic involved in Cahiers du cinéma, author of a book interview with Bergman, one of the discoverers of Asian cinema. He worked with André Téchiné as the screenwriter of some of his films, and he participated in collective projects To Each His Own Cinema and Paris, I Love You. He prefers intimate features about family issues, such as in Summer Hours, Late August, Early September or Clean, screened at the ENH in 2005, but he has also made some documentaries and essays and he feels at ease on the subject of music (e.g. Noise).
